PUERTO VALLARTA
"El destino de playa más Mexicano"

Localizado en el Océano Pacifico en la bahía más grande de América “Bahía de Banderas”

Fue en 1851 cuando unos pobladores dieron el nombre de “Puerto las Peñas de Santa María de Guadalupe” a este puerto. Su principal actividad era la Pesca. El 31 de Mayo de 1918 “Puerto las Peñas” se convierte en Municipio y recibe el nombre de “Puerto Vallarta” en honor Lic. Ignacio Luis Vallarta, Gobernador de Jalisco (1872-1876), 

A partir de entonces grandes cosas han ocurrido. El Director de Cine “John Houston” conoce “Puerto Vallarta”, (se dice que a través de reportajes), y grabó la película “Night of the Iguana” (La Noche de la Iguana) en Mismaloya, atrayendo así a mucho turismo Internacional.

Además de que grandes cadenas de hoteles fijaron su vista en este pintoresco puerto por el ambiente que en el se respira a traves de su arquitectura, sus calles empedradas, sus techos de teja roja, y el malecón que se distingue por ser un museo al aire libre en donde se exponen espectaculares esculturas.

“Puerto Vallarta” se encuentra localizado en el estado de Jalisco, México y Colinda con el estado de Nayarit y el municipio de San Sebastián del Oeste al norte; al este con los municipios de San Sebastián del Oeste y Mascota; al sur con los municipios de Mascota, Talpa de Allende y Cabo Corrientes; al oeste con el municipio de Cabo Corrientes, el océano Pacífico y el estado de Nayarit. 

La extensión territorial es de 1300.69 km2, representa el 1.63 % de la superficie del Estado de Jalisco y la población debe ser mayor a 210,378 habitantes (Conteo de Población y Vivienda 2005. Fuente www.inegi.gob.mx) 
El clima es húmedo, La temperatura media anual es de 25.6°C, con máxima de 31.6°C y mínima de 19.6°C. La temporada de lluvias comienza en el mes de julio y termina a finales de septiembre o inicios de octubre.

Vallarta cuenta con un Aeropuerto Internacional, una Terminal de Autobuses, un Puerto Marítimo y se puede ingresar por la Carretera Federal 200, que viene desde la Capital del Estado, pasando por Compostela y que continúa al Sur hacia Manzanillo. También se puede ingresar por la carretera Guadalajara-Autlán-Vallarta.

Las actividades a desarrollar en puerto Vallarta son muy diversas, desde un simple recorrido por la playa, tours en barco, paseos a caballo, deportes extremos como saltar del Bungee o pasar de una montaña a otra en el Canopy, hay muchos lugares para disfrutar de un día de compras o bien degustar delicioso platillos en los más de 300 Restaurantes con los que cuenta Vallarta y sus alrededores.

Located on the Pacific Ocean on the largest bay of the americas “Banderas Bay”

It was in 1851 when settlers gave to the name of "Puerto las Peñas de Santa Maria de Guadalupe" to this port. Its main activity was Pesca. The 31 of May of 1918 "Puerto Las Peñas " become Municipality and receive the name of "Puerto Vallarta" in honor Lic. Ignacio Luis Vallarta, Governor of Jalisco (1872-1876),  

From then great things they have happened. The Director of Cinema "John Houston" knows "Puerto Vallarta ", (he says that through news articles), and recorded the film "Night of the Iguana" in Mismaloya, thus attracting much tourism the International.

In addition to which great chains of hotels fixed their Vista to this colorful port by the atmosphere that in is breathed to traves of its architecture, its paved with stones streets, its ceilings of red roofing tile, and the levee that is distinguished being outdoors a museum in where spectacular sculptures are exposed.

"Puerto Vallarta " is located in the state of Jalisco, Mexico and Colinda with the state of Nayarit and the municipality of San Sebastián of the West to the norte; al this with the municipalities of San Sebastián of Oeste and South Mascota; al with the municipalities of Mascot, Talpa de Allende and Cabo Corrientes; al the west with the Current municipality of Cabo, the Pacific Ocean and the state of Nayarit. 

The territorial extension is of 1300,69 km2, it represents 1,63 % of the surface of the State of Jalisco and the population must be greater to 210.378 inhabitants (Count of Population and House 2005. Source www.inegi.gob.mx)  the climate is humid, the annual average temperature is of 25.6°C, with Maxima of 31.6°C and minim of 19.6°C. the season of rains begins in the month of July and finishes at the end of September or beginnings of October.

Vallarta counts on an Airport the International, a Terminal of Buses, a Seaport and it is possible to be entered by the Federal Highway 200, that comes from the State Capital, happening through Compostela and that continues to the South towards Manzanillo. Also it is possible to be entered by the Guadalajara-Autlán-Vallarta highway.

The activities to develop in Vallarta port are very diverse, from a simple route by the beach, tours in boat, extreme strolls to horse, sports like jumping of the Bungee or to happen from a mountain to another one in the Canopy, are many places to enjoy a day of purchases or to taste delicious subjects of gossip in more than 300 Restaurants on which it tells to Vallarta and its environs.
